Oil painting

Painting students will occupy the north facing painting studio on the second floor of Addams Hall. Projects may include still-lives, the
core of a painting portfolio, landscapes, and self-portraits. Work may also move into abstraction and mixed media works responding to ideas and inner sensibilities. Color theory, the architecture and construction of a painting support, and the various strategies for painting will be introduced.

The facility has increased air exchanges and special evaluation hoods to provide an environment that reduces the toxicity of oil paints and the necessary solvents. Safety procedures such as the proper disposal of used solvents, paint soaked rags, etc., will be taught.
