The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design offers a four-week intensive studio program in art and architecture. Students may choose major courses in drawing, filmmaking, animation, photography, or sculpture and a selection of two-week projects in graphic design, web design, clay wheel throwing, printmaking and book arts, oil painting, experimental photography, video, or digital photography. Architecture students follow a studio intensive all day, every day.
Working with students from around the world and Penn faculty you will build your portfolios, experiment with new disciplines, and develop and hone new and existing skills. The curriculum, taught by official Penn faculty and supported by majors in the fields, is taken from the regular course offerings at the University. It is sequenced and paced to match diverse learners and learning modes and is appropriate to the age and experience of the student body. Classes are small, allowing for individualization within projects. Students will attend their classes in state of the art buildings featuring high tech digital and electronic imaging facilities, professionally equipped photography laboratories and bright, spacious drawing, painting, architecture, sculpture and ceramics studios.
Whether you aspire to better prepare yourself for college admissions, determine your level of interest in new visual arenas, or simply want to experience a university environment for four weeks, the Penn Summer Studios will educate and enrich.
