Bret Taboada

Architecture

Graduate student in Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.  Teaches architecture. Taught drawing/visualization at Philadelphia University, in AIA Philadelphia’s Architecture in Education program, and as a teaching assistant in History and Theory of Architecture at PennDesign.  Previously worked for Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates and Scan-Design.  Interested in architecture, urban design, cities, and public space; architectural history; the design process; and writing architecture criticism.

Filmmaker. Teaches film and video, Digital Video Post-Production Specialist and Digital Video Lab Manager. Taught at University of the Arts. Productions include "Way of the Elephant," documentary about twelve teenagers on a living/learning expedition in Thailand (2003); "New Music," documentary on avant garde music composers and performance in Philadelphia (2001); "Race Talks," documentary on an innovative approach to improving police/community relationships (2001); "Taste Buds," "proof of concept" episode of a proposed series about children, culture and food (2001); Associate Editor, "The Big Tea Party at the RNC," an award winning nightly alternative new program from the Republican National Convention produced by the Big Tea Party collective (2000).

Andrew Philips

A recipient of the Philadelphia AIA Chapter’s Young Architect Award, Andrew has taught in the architecture department for ten years. He has also taught at Philadelphia University and Lehigh University and has served as a visiting critic at several other universities, including Columbia University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Andrew is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a principal of the firm dommertphillips.
Phillips currently teaches studios in the undergraduate program.

Alexandria Schmidt-Ullrich

Architecture

Received a Master in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, where she currently teaches undergraduate architecture and works in the Graduate School of Fine Arts Fabrication Laboratory.  She resides in Philadelphia and practices at a local architecture firm.  Her interests range from photography and printmaking to industrial and furniture design with a strong emphasis on material quality and craftsmanship.
